SUMMARY

The South Mule Canyon Trail is a great hike with easy access and contains part of the large collection of Anasazi ruins found in the Mule Canyon drainage. The most spectacular of the canyon’s ruins, “The House of Fire” ruin is approximately 1.25 miles into the canyon; however, there are many additional ruins, at least 8, in the first 4 miles of the canyon. DIRECTIONS: Starting from Blanding UT, go South on U.S. Highway 191 for approximately 4 miles. Turn West on State Rout 95 and follow the road for approximately 21 miles. Keep and eye out, on the North side of the road, for a pull-out that quickly turns into a dirt road. Take the dirt road for a few hundred yards until you see a trail marker. Walk down an incline and you will see the South Mule Trail kiosk.
